Valentine's Day

Ryan and I have been talking quite a bit about Valentine's Day for several weeks now.  He selected Star Wars Valentines for his classmates, and an extra special card for his girlfriend Ava.  He has been telling me that "Mommy and Daddy and all of my family" are his Valentines.  This morning as he was getting ready for school, I started explaining to him that I am his Valentine now, but someday he will grow up and might have a girlfriend, or a wife.  As I was talking, he started shaking his head side to side very hard, and his little eyes filled with tears.  He grabbed me tight, and said in a very shaky voice "no, I want to be with you Mommy!"  Melted my heart...

Valentine's Day Dance

Tonight we went to Ryan's first dance - A Valentine's Day "Ball" at his school.  We had a great time, although not much dancing was actually done - more running around and wreaking havoc by the kids.  But Ryan loved it, and was so excited to be at school on a Saturday!  I'm sure that excitement about going to school on a weekend won't last long...

Super Bowl

This year, we found ourselves in Albany on Super Bowl weekend, to celebrate the impending arrival of our new niece at a baby shower for my sister in law, Colleen.  With the Patriots playing the Giants, this found us in enemy territory for the game!  although the outcome wasn't what Ryan and I would have liked, the rest of the family was happy that the Giants won, and we were happy to spend some extra time with family.
